![]() (Frustratingly, I did get a notification from Google’s own Wallet app, which has no Android Wear integration whatsoever. Stocard has an optional “Assistant” setting that’s supposed to show a notification when you walk into a store, but when I tried milling around Best Buy and Walgreen’s, the app didn’t make a peep. The biggest issue, as I mentioned earlier, was my inability to get location-based reminders to work. The bar code screen itself is bare-bones, but gets the job done. Other great apps like Key Ring Reward Cards are Stocard, Apple Wallet, Voucher Vault and Loyalty Card Keychain. The best alternative is Catima, which is both free and Open Source. It’d be nice if Stocard could automatically brighten the display to make scanning easier, and show the name of the business on the barcode screen, but I was still able to scan my Walgreen’s card with default brightness on a Moto 360. There are more than 10 alternatives to Key Ring Reward Cards for a variety of platforms, including Android, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android Tablet. And unlike the real cards, the digital ones don't get bent. ![]() When it’s time to scan your card, you can launch the app from Android Wear’s command menu, choose a store from the list to open the barcode. Having the cards digitized is more convenient than having them cluttering up a keyring or taking up space in a wallet or purse. My only complaint is that the app doesn’t show you any actual loyalty or payment data, such as the balance remaining on your Starbucks card. ![]() You can load bar codes from pretty much anywhere, however. Stocard has lots of brands in its database, providing logos for major stores like CVS and Starbucks to correspond with your loyalty card. Just scan a bar code or type in the number, and the card will automatically appear on the watch. The Android Wear app works offline as well, so you can load bar codes even when your phone is out of range. Any bar codes you load onto the phone will immediately be available on the watch with no extra setup required. Instead of making you install a separate smartwatch app, Stocard automatically appears on Android Wear after you’ve set up the main smartphone app. Putting that issue aside for a moment, Stocard is at least a textbook example of how an Android Wear app should behave.
